Setting the facts straight on men and women

Orang-dengan-Otak-Kanan

Rarely do I ever rant or vent about women’s rights, but I feel a strong need to do so.  I have never considered myself an overly feminist woman, but I do believe in equal rights for all races and sexes.  That doesn’t mean favoring one race or sex over another or over-compensating for past discrepancies.  It simply means, an equal playing field.  However, I was recently in a situation where I was made to feel extremely belittled and undermined, simply because I was a Christian Woman.

This is to all men out there, who are unfortunately unaware and unreceptive to the intellectual capabilities of their complimentary species-Women.  Studies have shown that women typically use more of the right side of their brain, which is the part of the brain that is creative, intuitive, and subjective.  Men typically use the left side of their brain, which is more logical, analytical, and objective. Men and women are capable of using both sides of their brain as long as they exercise them.  For example, I’m a woman and a writer.  That would naturally make me more right-brain, but when I deal with a crisis or life problem I tend to be more logical.  I’m never going to understand Chemistry, but that doesn’t make me incompetent.  It simply means, my brain was created for a different purpose.

That being said, men need to recognize that just because a woman is present in the room does not give them the right or privilege to be condescending or pompous.  Our fields of expertise may differ, but that doesn’t make you any more intelligent than us.  Did Monet know how to define and develop an equation for space and time?  No, Einstein was an expert in that.  But I can assure you that Einstein was no Claude Monet when it came to painting.

This is not to say that women can’t be just as belittling and undermining to men.  I speak only from my personal experiences.  I simply want us to view each other in better lights.  Recognize that someone’s intellect and talents may be in a separate field than yours, and realize that that doesn’t make you any better than them.  Let the verse Galatians 3:28 ring as a wake-up call to both men and women. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, neither slave nor free, neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus”.  Stop viewing yourself better or less to someone else, and stand firm in the fact that we are all equal before God.  Equal in sin.  Equal in rights.
